Domaine Wilfried et Réjane - Rasteau 2023

Often underappreciated it's a great alternative for those who might be a bit daunted by Chateauneuf-du-Pape. It shares many of its qualities whilst being a bit more easy to drink. Wilfried and Réjane have made an exemplary version of this with their Rasteau. An organic blend of Grenache (70%), Syrah (20%) and Carignan (10%), it is powerful, but with plenty of finesse. The grapes are hand-picked and there is very little intervention during the vinification process with the aim of getting maximum aromatic freshness and depth from the fruit.

On the nose it is powerfully spicy with a hint of violet, and with a little aeration some beautiful cherry notes will appear. It is a well-structured, finely fruity and spicy wine that has an elegant finish. It can easily be drunk now, but will also evolve over the next 3 to 5 years and more depth will develop. 

It's perfect for rich meat dishes, like a casserole or a steak, and fantasic with roast vegetables too.

Contains a small amount of sulphites added at bottling.
